Ronald Chan, CFA

Chief Investment Officer, Equities, Asia (ex-Japan)

Based in Hong Kong, Ronald is chief investment officer for Asia ex-Japan equities and oversees Manulife Investment Management’s equity teams across 10 countries and territories in Asia.

Ronald focuses on enhancing the performance of the firm’s regional equity strategies, facilitating information sharing between local-market equity teams across Asia and serving as a link between the regional hub in Hong Kong and equity teams in North America and Europe.
Ronald has more than 20 years of equity management experience, including over 10 years overseeing equity teams in Asia. His career spans fund management roles at Hambros Fund Management and Baring Asset Management in the UK and, more recently, the position of chief investment officer for Asian equities at Fortis Investment Management in Shanghai and Hong Kong and for Reliance Asset Management in Singapore. He joined Manulife Asset Management from Pacific Eagle Asset Management, where he served as chief investment officer.

Ronald holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and economics from the University of Bristol and a Masters in finance and investment from the University of Exeter, both in the United Kingdom. He is a CFA charterholder.
